Rolex Daytona “John Mayer”
The green Daytona that became a modern legend.
This Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, reference 116508, is the now-discontinued yellow gold “John Mayer” configuration: 40mm case in 18ct yellow gold with the vivid sunburst green dial that has become one of the most recognisable modern Daytonas.
This 2021 example is in excellent, unpolished condition, showing only minor signs of wear in line with light use. It is offered as a complete full set with Rolex box, booklets, warranty card and the sought-after white Rolex swing tag.
With green-dial solid gold Rolex pieces sitting near the top of many collectors’ wishlists, and the 116508 officially discontinued in 2023 after a relatively short production run, this is very much the grail piece that every ‘Rolex’ person lusts after and for very good reason.

The 116508 green dial Daytona is the watch that went from under-appreciated to modern legend almost overnight. Introduced in 2016 as a yellow gold Daytona with a striking green dial, it really took off once John Mayer singled it out as a “sleeping giant”, and demand has only increased since its discontinuation in 2023.
